Profile Information

What are your main interests/activities in the Arts?
Many Toowoomba families hold a special place in their heart for our founder, our teacher and our friend, Kath Dickson who was a cornerstone of care and education for children in this community for many years until she passed away in 2003 at the age of 94. As well as being recognised nationally for her contribution to education, Kath also loved and supported the arts in Toowoomba. This heroic participation in bringing the arts into the lives of children was rewarded when Kath received the British Empire Medal for her “Outstanding Contribution to the Arts”.
This dream of Kath’s to make the arts come alive in this community is being rekindled by the Kath Dickson Family Centre in their new premises on the corner of Ruthven and Russell Street. The staff of Kath Dickson enjoy being part of the restoration of Kath’s arts advocacy philosophy. Though a lot of time has passed, Kath would be so pleased to see the Community Arts Space open to the people of Toowoomba.”
“Children’s Art/Craft workshops are also held held in the Arts Space. said Moyalia Bazyar organiser of the Art Space.
Kath would love to have seen young children
exploring, creating, redefining and playing with art.” We are honouredto have POP creator Damien and Rachel work here with us each week ...'
For any further information on the Art Space please contact Moyalia Bazyar on 46 338 418 ... and in the words of the great Rodin "To any artist, worthy of the name, all in nature is beautiful, because his eyes, fearlessly accepting all exterior truth, read there, as in an open book, all the inner truth.”

The Kath Dickson Community Art Space is a community arts advocacy space situated at 359 Ruthven Street Toowoomba.
The goal of the arts space is to feature and promote the works of local artists in a variety of visual media. We also expect the space will be an opportunity for children to use and appreciate the many forms of art, their own and others.

Pieces will be exhibited on an ongoing basis in the Toowoomba community.
Pieces will be displayed for 3 – 5 weeks, by arrangement with the artist. A brief introduction to each artist and the work will be made available in an accessible format. Contact details of the artists and whether or not the prices will be for sale will be at the discretion of the artist.
Currently displayed artists will be highlighted on the Kath Dickson website. www.kdfc.com.au
Oceans of love Moyalia x " All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up. Pablo Picasso
