When I was a kid, I thought quite a few things might be good careers. Among these was becoming an artist. As someone pointed out to me, this is different from wanting to draw and/or paint all day.
Anyway, after doing a couple of years of Science at UQ (Geology and Mineralogy were my best subjects!) I went to Kelvin Grove Teacher's College and became a High School Science and Maths teacher. I switched my studies to Education, then Arts, getting a B.Ed and a B.A. in Literature and Geography.
A few years later, partly because of my hearing loss, I retrained as a librarian at QIT. I served in various postions in this role, including User Education Librarian at Kelvin Grove Campus and running the Library and the Computer Centre at Emerald Agricultural College.
Learning to use a library does great things for your ability as a student. A few more years down the track, I had managed to get a Masters in Educational Studies, focussing on Educational Social Psychology.
Nowadays, I am living with my darling wife Mary in Toowoomba. I still get occasional calls to teach in local High and Primary Schools. I also serve as a commitee member for Arts Council Toowoomba. Mostly, however, I am focussed on establishing a new career as an artist. Check me out at
